A bag of my own…

I have had a good run ofsewing time this week due to

a vacation period from  grandchild care days and winter weather. So today I wanted to do something that I could do in a day.

I had a piece of fabric that was given to me that I have been really wanting to use. While cleaning up I began putting fabrics together and found one that went with the floral in a way that appealed to me today.

I had seen a picture of a tote bag with a fold over top and decided to attempt to create it. I also have some very sturdy stabilizer from the diaper bag project. After working with the pattern of the fabric and designing which direction and layers pieces would end up in I sewed the bag.

I added the self-made bias trim – mostly because I really like making it adds such a nice finishing touch. By the time I was finished I realized the bag was PERFECT for a laptop!

So I think I may actually use this one myself!

I also now have a great prototype for making some laptop bags. Pockets on the front, inside pocket, firm base to protect and a fold over top.
